What is the San Diego Giving Back Raffle?

The San Diego Giving Back Raffle is an annual charitable fundraiser benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. For 20 years, community contributions through raffle fundraisers have supported our continuing effort to offer a "home away from home" to thousands of deserving families with a child in the hospital. In addition to benefiting our non-profit organization, the raffle awards thousands of prizes to raffle participants each year.

Why are you called the San Diego Giving Back Raffle?

Our raffle fundraiser is a unique opportunity for the public to give back to an important community resource, while the raffle gives back to our wonderful supporters in the form of thousands of prizes each year totaling more than $30 million in prizes awarded over the raffle's history.

Do all supporters really win a prize?

Each raffle transaction - defined as a ticket order of any ticket quantity - is guaranteed to win at least one prize in the Grand Prize Drawing. The prize win is linked to the raffle transaction and not to any given raffle ticket.

After the first 2,029 prizes have been awarded, every remaining non-winning ticket transaction is then awarded the following prize option: Winner's choice of : (1) Special 20th San Diego Giving Back Raffle Portable Speaker, (2) RMHC-San Diego Branded Fitness Bag, (3) One Entry in $20,000 Cash Replay Drawing (1 winner), (4) One Entry in $5,000 Cash Replay Drawing (5 winners), (5) One Entry in $500 Cash Replay Drawing (20 winners), or (6) One Entry in $200 VISA Gift Card Drawing (5 winners), subject to availability. Actual number of prizes awarded shall depend on total number of eligible ticket transactions.

The prize guarantee does not apply to Add-On, Early Bird, or Multi-Ticket drawings.

How does the prize win guarantee work if I bought raffle tickets in multiple transactions?

You are guaranteed to win at least one prize in the Grand Prize Drawing for each transaction.

Am I guaranteed a prize for every ticket I purchase?

The prize guarantee is linked to the raffle ticket transaction, and not any individual ticket.

What are the drawings and prizes?

It starts with a raffle ticket purchase. A raffle ticket enters you into the Grand Prize Drawing, where you are guaranteed to win at least one prize. Learn more about the Grand Prize Drawing and associated prizes at sdraffle.com/everybodywins.

If you purchase that same raffle ticket by one of our early bird deadlines, you receive bonus entries into Early Bird Drawing(s). Learn more about the Early Bird and associated prizes at sdraffle.com/earlybird.

If you purchase three or more raffle tickets in the same transaction, you receive bonus entries into the Multi-Ticket Drawing for a chance to win a 2024 Airstream Globetrotter, a 2025 Escalade IQ, a Vacation through South America by Private Jet, or $100,000. What is the Grand Prize?

The Grand Prize is guaranteed to be at least $1 million cash.

The Grand Prize becomes winner's choice of house, $5 million 20-year annuity, or $4 million lump-sum cash option if more than 50,720 raffle tickets are sold.

Do you accept applications by email or sell tickets on the internet?

No.

Do you send physical tickets in the mail?

In most cases, no. Participants will receive confirmation of their ticket purchase at the email address provided at the time of ticket purchase. Please check your spam or junk folder. If you have not received your email confirmation within two hours of purchase, call 888-824-9939 or email office@sdraffle.com.

How much does a raffle ticket cost?

Raffle tickets are $150 each, 3-packs for $400, or 5-packs for $550. Only one method of payment, one name, and one mailing address are permitted per raffle ticket pack.

How many raffle tickets can I buy?

You may buy as many raffle tickets as you like, subject to availability.

How many raffle tickets will be sold?

Only 60,000 raffle tickets will be sold. The chances of winning any given prize are based on that number. If fewer raffle tickets are sold, the chances of winning the grand prize and or any other prize improve. Purchasing more than one raffle ticket increases the chances of winning.

Is there a limit to the number of times I can win prizes?

No. You can win as many times equal to the number of your eligible drawing entries.

How many prizes are awarded?

Up to 60,000 prizes will be awarded in the Grand Prize Drawing.

Do you offer assistance in other languages?

Unfortunately, no.

What is the Early Bird Drawing?

The Early Bird drawing is a special incentive for participants who purchase raffle tickets earlier. If you purchase a ticket by an Early Bird deadline you are included in that Early Bird drawing and any subsequent Early Bird drawing, if applicable, AND the Grand Prize drawing. All tickets entered in the Early Bird drawing, including any winning Early Bird drawing ticket, remain eligible for the Grand Prize drawing.

When are the Early Bird Drawings?

All raffle tickets purchased by May 3, 2024 will be entered into both the Early Bird 1 and Early Bird 2 drawings. The Early Bird 1 drawing is scheduled to take place on or about May 16, 2024.

All raffle tickets purchased by May 31, 2024 will be entered into the Early Bird 2 drawing. The Early Bird 2 drawing is scheduled to take place on or about June 13, 2024.

What is the Multi-Ticket Drawing?

The Multi-Ticket Drawing is a special incentive for participants who purchase three or more raffle tickets in the same transaction. If you purchase three or more tickets, you are included in the Multi-Ticket Drawing AND the Grand Prize Drawing.

Who benefits from this raffle?

Raffle prize winners, San Diego's Ronald McDonald House and all of the families that we serve.

When do raffle ticket sales end?

The final day to purchase raffle tickets is June 28, 2024 or whenever raffle tickets sell out, whichever is sooner.

Do I have to be present to win?

No, you do not have to be present to win or claim any prize.

How will the winners be notified?

A current list of prize winners can be found at sdraffle.com/prizewinners.

It is highly recommended to provide a valid email address at time of ticket purchase. Participants who provide a valid email address will receive courtesy notifications on drawing results. If you are not receiving notifications, please check your email status at sdraffle.com/email to verify.

A list of winners may be obtained from San Diego Ronald McDonald House by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to RMHC-SD Giving Back Raffle, 2929 Children's Way, San Diego, CA 92123 within 30 days of the drawing date.

Winners will be directly contacted by email or mail (in that order) based on the contact information provided at the time of ticket purchase.

Who can buy a raffle ticket?

The raffle is open to any individual who is 18 years of age or older and in the state of California at the time of ticket purchase. RMHC-SD employees, and RMHC-SD authorized agents and vendors assisting RMHC in conducting the raffle are excluded from participating and are not eligible to win a prize as are members of the Board of Trustees and their spouses and children living in the same household. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. The raffle is void where prohibited or restricted by law. An affidavit of eligibility may be required of prize winners.

Are raffle tickets tax-deductible?

No. The IRS does not consider raffle tickets to be a tax-deductible contribution. Please consult your tax advisor.

Will the drawings be audited?

Yes, an independent, certified accountant will audit tickets as well as supervise the Early Bird, Multi-Ticket, and Grand Prize drawings.

Are raffle prizes considered income?

Yes. RMHC-SD will withhold taxes for prizes with values that exceed state or federal mandates. All prize winners of $600 or more may be required to submit an IRS Form 1099-MISC and/or a W-2G to be awarded the prize.

How do I claim or redeem my prize?

Prize winners will be contacted according to the contact information provided at the time of ticket purchase. Please allow up to 3 business days for RMHC-SD to reach out to you prior to contacting the organization about your prize win. Prize claim and/or redemption information will be provided at that time. All prize winners of $600 or more may be required to submit an IRS Form 1099-MISC and/or a W-2G to be awarded the prize. There may be deadlines associated with your prize win, such as when a prize election must be made, and when forms and remittances must be received by RMHC-SD

Is this Giving Back Raffle legal?

Yes, it is. In the summer of 2001, the California Legislature amended the state constitution to allow eligible non-profit organizations to conduct raffles as a means of raising funds. Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, Inc. is registered with the California Attorney General's Office to conduct this charitable raffle. Registration does not imply endorsement.
